Summary
the top 5 movies that you should.. This month, Netflix has released a large number of new movies that are undoubtedly worth seeing, but at the same time, the streaming service is also saying goodbye to a number of films that are of exceptional quality. After all, the Netflix catalog is always being updated, which means that every month, some of the best movies are being taken out of the service.
Regrettably, May 2024 is not an exception to this rule. In addition to the fact that all four mainstream movies are departing the service, Netflix customers will no longer have access to the “The Hunger Games” series by the end of the month. This is not the only thing that will happen. Additionally, Netflix is losing a number of outstanding comedies as well as a horror film that is based on a video game but has been unfairly missed (and it is not “Five Nights at Freddy’s”).
the top 5 movies that you should
It is imperative that you watch these five films on Netflix before they are removed from the streaming service permanently (or at least, removed for the time being, since the streaming service has a tendency to recycle its repertoire).
‘You’ve Got Mail’ (1998)
“You’ve Got Mail” is a romantic comedy classic that was released in 1998. It stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, who had previously appeared in the equally beloved “Sleepless in Seattle” five years earlier. Although the film may appear a little dated when viewed through a contemporary lens, it is a very comforting film to watch. The name of the film comes from an AOL message that chimed whenever a user received new mail. “You’ve Got Mail” is the ideal treatment for situations in which you need something easy to cheer you up and raise your spirits.
Kathleen, played by Meg Ryan, is the proprietor of a bookshop that is experiencing financial difficulties. She is at odds with Joe Fox, played by Hanks, who is the president of a multinational chain that has just built a store across the street. On the other hand, they are absolutely oblivious of one other’s genuine identities and are participating in an anonymous internet relationship. This is something that they are both completely unconscious of. When Joe finds out that the lady he has been falling in love with is his formidable business competitor, he is forced to make a tough decision, which of course leads to a great deal of comedic chaos.
Available on Netflix till the 31st of May
‘Silent Hill’ (2006)
After years of the medium being crudely translated into movies and programs that alienated consumers and garnered the ire of gamers, video game adaptations are presently in popularity. This comes after the medium has been translated into movies and series. Despite this, the effort to adapt the popular survival-horror series “Silent Hill” into a film in 2006 was more successful than you may expect it would be. Upon its first release, it was met with widespread disapproval from critics; nevertheless, it has since been subjected to a reassessment that is well-deserved. This big-screen adaptation of “Silent Hill” does an excellent job of capturing the creepy personality of the series as well as its offbeat and somewhat strange style of narrative.
“Silent Hill” depicts a desperate mother named Rose Da Silva, played by Radha Mitchell, who takes her adopted daughter to the town of Silent Hill, which is blanketed in fog, in the hope of healing her condition. This is done despite the fact that her husband, Christopher, played by Sean Bean, is against the idea. As soon as she arrives, she is engaged in a vehicle accident and wakes up to discover that her daughter has gone missing. She is obligated to seek the eerie place in order to find answers. Be careful to steer clear of the sequel since it is a complete and utter waste of time.
Available on Netflix till the 31st of May.
‘The Other Guys’ (2010)
In “The Other Guys,” Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg portray a pair of pencil-pushing New York Police Department investigators who are continuously jealous of their heroic colleagues, played by Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson. The film is a wonderfully ludicrous buddy police comedy, and I say that with a great deal of respect. But as what begins as a relatively small investigation escalates into something much more significant, these two officers, who were not adequately prepared, are thrust into the limelight and given the opportunity to demonstrate their worth.
“The Other Guys” was the fourth time that Ferrell and filmmaker Adam McKay worked together on a film. The film also included humorous performances by Eva Mendes, Michael Keaton, and Steve Coogan. As a result of the fact that the two have previously collaborated on “Anchorman,” “Talladega Nights,” and “Step Brothers,” it is not an understatement to claim that this is possibly the finest collaborative endeavor that the two have ever worked on together. This is the kind of comedy that requires you to take many breaks simply to catch your breath among the various comedic moments.
Available on Netflix till the 31st of May
‘The Hunger Games’ (2012)
In light of the fact that all four primary films in the Hunger Games series will be deleted from Netflix on May 31st, I will be cleaning up my collection of “The Hunger Games” DVDs the following month. It is highly recommended that you arrange your “Hunger Games” movie marathon as soon as possible, since there is not much time left to squeeze in all four films. Even if you have seen them before, I can assure you that they are still extremely good even ten years after the first film was released in cinemas. Despite the fact that “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” continues to be the epitome of excellence, the “Mockingjay” movie, which was divided into two parts, is also quite disappointing.
The dystopian ruins of the United States, which have been renamed Panem and divided into 12 districts that are controlled over by the Capitol, serve as the setting for the “The Hunger Games” series. Each year, the two tributes, one male and one female, are gathered from the districts in order to play in the games that bear their name. These games consist of a battle to the death between the last person standing. “The Hunger Games” is a compelling science fiction action film that has a range of talented actors, including Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, and others. It also conveys a pertinent message about our contemporary media culture.
Available on Netflix till the 31st of May.
‘The Disaster Artist’ (2017)
Despite the fact that “The Disaster Artist” was just introduced to Netflix in March, it is certain that its time spent on the streaming site will be rather brief. However, there is still some time left for you to enjoy this absurd comedy that tells the tale of the unusual events that took place during the making of “The Room,” which is sometimes considered to be the worst movie that has ever been created. The film is a funny look at the process of creating a complete train disaster, and it is based on the memoir of the same name written by actor Greg Sestro.
Dave Franco plays the role of Greg, an aspiring performer who meets Tommy Wiseau, an eccentric character, at acting class. Tommy Wiseau is played by Dave Franco’s brother James Franco, who also directs the film. Because of their mutual fascination with Tommy’s eccentric nature, the two end up becoming friends and deciding to produce their own film. In spite of the fact that it is the prototypical “so terrible, it’s good” movie, the film that they finally make has been referred to as “the Citizen Kane of bad movies,” and this comic look at the process of its production is both amusing and entertaining.
Available on Netflix till the 31st of May.
