On Tuesday, Meta’s Facebook and Instagram appeared to be beset by pervasive technical issues, as thousands of users reported encountering difficulties while attempting to access the platforms.
Users have reported issues such as being signed out of the Facebook platform. Downdetector, a monitoring service, detected an increase in error reports shortly after 10:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
Furthermore, users of Instagram have complained that their feeds do not refresh.
Reps for the parent firm Meta failed to provide prompt responses to inquiries seeking comment.
Is Facebook down? Outages in the US.
St. Louis— Facebook down for you? DownDetector.com outages are rising. Many people report getting logged out without a way in. Both the app and website have login issues.
The cause of the outage is unknown. Users have trouble changing passwords and activating two-factor authentication.
Users on the outage detection website say their session expired and they can’t log in. Each time I log in to the program, “An Unknown Error Has Occurred” says one user.
Businesses using Facebook for marketing are concerned about the downtime, underscoring the platform’s global communication role. Facebook users are venting on other platforms and seeking updates, with #FacebookDown trending.
One Downdetector user says, “Messenger and Facebook logged me out a few minutes ago. Relogging worked, but it logged me out after one second. Can’t log in again. When I reported the issue, there were 40 reports; now there are over 5000, showing Facebook has issues.”
Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, and Messenger are Meta’s properties. All seem to have the same problems. Meta has not set a deadline for full service restoration but advises customers to monitor official updates.
