If you haven’t updated your Outlook password in a while, you may be giving hackers access to your account. Regular password updates are a terrific method to increase your online security, and Outlook makes it simple to handle this significant (but tedious) administrative chore.
Here’s everything you need to know about changing your Outlook password, whether you’re using the desktop or web-based client. It’s important to remember that, while changing your password, you should exercise the standard care by selecting a word that is difficult to decipher and has a combination of letters and digits.
Here’s how it works, without further ado
Modify your password for Outlook.com
Your email provider’s password remains unchanged when you modify your password inside the Outlook desktop client. Go to the section immediately below to find out how to update your login information in the Outlook program itself if you’re using an Apple, Yahoo, or Gmail email account. If not, follow our instructions on how to change your password with those services. To update your credentials with other email providers, you will need to go to their individual websites.
Proceed with the procedures listed below if you are using an Outlook email account.
Step 1: go to the Microsoft security website and log in. Go to the special security website for Microsoft and log in.
Step 2: Follow the security instructions shown on the screen after selecting Password Security from the dashboard.
Step 3: Select a new password in step three.
Step 4: Enter your new password and confirm your existing one again on the next screen.
Step 5: Enter the needed information twice, using a lengthy, secure combination of numbers, special characters, and uppercase and lowercase letters. Next, click the blue “Save” button.
And that’s it! Your Outlook.com password has been changed. To find out how to change your password in the Outlook email client, continue reading the next section.
Alter the password for your Outlook client
To ensure that your Outlook email client is using the new password you set with your email provider, follow the instructions below.
Note: Your app password is required if you are using an email account other than Outlook. Visit the corresponding Yahoo, Gmail, and Apple sites for assistance in locating or creating those.
Step 1: access the account settings in Outlook.
Step 2: Start the Outlook program in step two.
Step 3: From the top menu, choose File after it has loaded.
Step 4: Select Account Preferences.
Step 5: Select Account Settings from the drop-down box once again.
Step 6: Modify your passcode.
Step7: Choose the email address you wish to modify, click Change, and enter your new password in the corresponding sections if you have an Office 365 subscription that grants you semiannual updates or a standalone version of the Outlook client.
Step 8: Click “Finish” in Step 8.
Note: You should choose File > Account Settings > Update Password if you have a monthly Office 365 update subscription, according to Microsoft. After changing your password, click OK.
Step 9: Verify its functionality. Testing your new password to make sure you’ve changed it properly is the final and most crucial step in the whole procedure.
Step 10: Choose Outlook after closing all open windows. Once it opens, enter your new password.
Step 11: Select Send/Receive to see whether all of your emails were sent. You were successful in changing your password if they were all present.
Check to see whether you’re typing the password properly if you’re having trouble accessing your email account. Often, we mistakenly enter the password incorrectly even if we believe we know it by heart.
Instead of logging in using a standard login page, you may need to utilize an app password service if you use Gmail, Yahoo, or Apple. For additional information, click these links to learn about Apple, Yahoo, and Gmail.
