The Notebook (2004)
By the year 2024, the film version of Nicholas Sparks’ novel The Notebook will be celebrating its twentieth anniversary, and it continues to be a favorite among those who like romantic comedies. In spite of the fact that we have seen tales about star-crossed lovers before, the story of Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling, who played the role of Noah Calhoun in The Fall Guy) and Allison Hamilton (Rachel McAdams) is particularly memorable. This is mostly due to the fact that the film depicts how their love started and how it continued until it ended many years later.
The beginning of World War II and the presence of Allison’s family both pose difficulties for Noah and Allison’s relationship in the early 1940s. Even if it means that Allison must go against the desires of her family, Noah and Allison chose love above all else. This is the case, regardless of the circumstances. Additionally, the picture has supporting characters played by screen veterans James Garner and Gena Rowlands, both of whom have the potential to bring tears to your eyes before the final credits roll.
Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain (2023)
In the event that you were under the impression that Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain was a Peacock’s production, then you are not incorrect. Peacock, on the other hand, has a tendency to upload everything to Prime Video. In the film The Treasure of Foggy Mountain, the members of the comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy, including Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy, play fictitious versions of themselves.
As soon as the three individuals realize that they could be in possession of a precious treasure that is concealed in Foggy Mountain, they unwittingly generate competitors for their mission by informing Lisa (Megan Stalter) and Taylor (X Mayo) about what it is that they are hunting for. In addition, there are further treasure hunters who have already arrived at the mountain. Even if the three individuals are successful in locating the wealth, it will be a great deal more difficult to get it back to their house.
Road House (2024)
In this remake of the 1989 blockbuster movie starring Patrick Swayze, Jake Gyllenhaal plays the role of Elwood Dalton, a former Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter who has fallen on hard times. When Frankie (Jessica Williams) hires Elwood to work as a bouncer at her bar, which is also the name of the film, Road House provides him with an opportunity to make up for his past transgressions.
While Elwood’s fighting talents go a long way toward maintaining peace at The Road House, a local gangster named Ben Brandt (played by Billy Magnussen) is none too pleased with his performance. Elwood had no trouble dealing with Brandt’s typical thugs, but he will find it much more challenging to do so with Knox, who is Brandt’s enforcer and is actually Conor McGregor, a competitor in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 (2023)
There is another wedding in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, but it is not between the main protagonists, Fotoula “Toula” Portokalos (Nia Vardalos) and Ian Miller (Sex and the City’s John Corbett). It should not come as a surprise to you that there is another wedding in the film. Toula and Ian have remained together not just through two sequels but also through one non-canonical offshoot of a comedy. However, they are unaware of the fact that their daughter, Paris Miller (Elena Kampouris), is having a difficult time balancing her romantic life with her academic aspirations while she is attending college.
The year 2021 saw the passing of Michael Constantine, who had previously portrayed Gus Portokalos, Toula’s father, in the films that came before. This is the reason why a significant portion of the movie is devoted to the family’s struggle to cope with their sorrow at the passing of Gus, while the entire clan goes to Greece in order to fulfill his last requests. As a result of his childhood pals dispersing and some unconnected relationship troubles rising to the surface, this turns out to be more challenging than they had anticipated it would be.
Frida (2024)
Frida Kahlo, a Mexican painter, did not achieve renown or widespread acclaim until twenty years after her death, and this year celebrates the seventieth anniversary of her passing. The recently released documentary Frida takes a comprehensive look back at Kahlo’s life, which has been the subject of vast documentation, and adds some contemporary embellishments, such as animation, to a handful of the artist’s self-portraits.
One of the most essential aspects of the film is that it incorporates Kahlo’s own words into the narrative, allowing her to have a say in her own tale. Frida Kahlo was one of the most unique voices in the art world of the 20th century, and the life that she brought into the world was just as significant and fascinating as the works that she produced. A new generation could develop an appreciation for something as a result of seeing this movie.
The Other Zoey (2023)
The romantic comedy produced by Sandra Bullock and titled “While You Were Sleeping” is not a remake of “The Other Zoey.” However, those who like romantic comedies may find that there are some parallels between the two. Josephine Langford plays the role of Zoey Miller, a high school student who is not the girlfriend of Zach MacLaren, a soccer player played by Drew Starkey, whose girlfriend is also called Zoey and is played by Maggie Thurmon.
Zoey is mistaken for Zach’s girlfriend after he suffers a brain injury that causes him to have partial amnesia. His doctors caution her not to upset him by telling him the truth about his relationship with Zoey. As a result, Zoey continues to engage in the lie and becomes closer to Zach while on a spectacular vacation. At the same time, Zoey is also drawn to Zach’s cousin, Miles Maclaren (Archie Renaux), who has many of the same perspectives as she does on love and life. Which of these guys does Zoey have her heart set on? Watching the movie is the only way to find out the answer.
Foe (2023)
Despite the fact that the future of humanity seems to be grim in the Prime Video original film Foe, Hen (Saoirse Ronan) and Junior (Paul Mescal) have each other. Or do they not? Junior’s selection as one of the fortunate few to live and work on OuterMore, the orbiting colony that may be humanity’s greatest chance of survival, puts their marriage to the test. Their marriage is put to the test.
On the other hand, Hen is not chosen for the program, despite the fact that a stranger called Terrance (Aaron Pierre) assures Junior that Hen will be properly cared for by a special companion while he is away. Nevertheless, as the screening procedure goes on, Junior comes to the realization that Terrance will be the one to reside with his wife while he is confined to space.
About Fate (2022)
The romantic comedy About Fate, directed by Maryus Vaysberg and inspired by Emil Braginsky and Eldar Ryazanov’s The Irony of Fate, is a film in which two lives that are parallel to one another cross between them. Emma Roberts’ character, Margot Hayes, and Thomas Mann’s character, Griffin Reed, both have the desire to wed their respective partners, Clementine Pratt (played by Madeline Petsch) and Kip (played by Lewis Tan). However, when those intentions fail to materialize, Griffin rushes home intoxicated to Margot’s apartment since it was so simple for him to mistake it for his own family’s residence.
As an alternative to being upset over a stranger sleeping in her bed, Margot takes advantage of their encounter to urge Griffin to act as if she is Kip when she goes to the wedding of her sister, Carrie Hayes, who is played by Britt Robertson. On the other hand, neither Kip nor Clementine are fully out of the picture, and it may be a matter of chance that brings Griffin and Margot together as a true pair.
Licorice Pizza (2021)
Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the few filmmakers in Hollywood whose pictures have become events in and of themselves with their own unique significance. Licorice Pizza, the most recent film directed by Anderson, also marked the first time that its two actors, the singer Alana Haim and the actor Cooper Hoffman, appeared on the big screen. Gary Valentine is a 15-year-old actor who is madly smitten with Alana Kane (Haim), a lady who is at least ten years older than he is. Hoffman portrays Gary Valentine in the film.
The age gap between Gary and Alana is one of the causes that keeps them apart romantically, even when they find new reasons to remain in each other’s lives. Gary’s affections for Alana are not totally one-sided, but the age aspect is one of the elements that keeps them apart.
Totally Killer (2023)
In addition to being one of the most original combinations of science fiction, humor, and horror, Totally Killer, which was developed by Amazon Studios, seems to be open to parallels to Back to the Future. Kiernan Shipka, who plays Jamie in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, is a girl who is intimately acquainted with the tale of how her mother, Pam (Julie Bowen), survived the Sweet Sixteen Killer thirty-five years ago. Jamie wants to know how her mother survived. It is something that Jamie has been exposed to on several occasions throughout her life.
Jamie is sent back in time to 1987, when her much younger mother, Olivia Holt, was reportedly one of the cruelest girls in school. This occurs when the Sweet Sixteen Killer reappears in the current day. Jamie finds herself transported back in time. If Jamie was unable to protect Pam in the past, then it is possible that she will not have a future to which she may return.
Inside (2023)
Because Willem Dafoe is so naturally cast in the role of a villain in films, it is quite uncommon to see him playing the lead role in a movie. An expert art thief by the name of Nemo is portrayed by Dafoe in Inside, and he is a man who is really enthusiastic about his vocation. However, Nemo encounters a situation in which he is unable to escape from the high-tech security system of a Manhattan high-rise apartment as he is attempting to steal from a very affluent art collector.
The fact that no one enters the penthouse following the lockdown is the most concerning aspect of this situation. This is the reason why Nemo goes for weeks without eating and has very limited access to water. It is now Nemo’s responsibility to discover a way out of this luxurious apartment, which has turned into his jail, in order for him to simply exist.
