WhatsApp’s new colorless.. A little over a decade ago, WhatsApp established itself as the dominant player in the messaging industry.
We often make the observation that it is lacking in capabilities that other applications, like as Telegram and Signal, have supported for a far longer period of time.
However, over the course of the last year, developers of Meta have dramatically sped up the pace, catching up with improvements such as Communities, broadcast channels, and status updates that are packed with functionality.
Now, after months of testing, we are seeing modifications to the user interface being sent out to beta testers, which suggests that WhatsApp wants to play catch-up in terms of its visuals as well.
WhatsApp’s new colorless
WhatsApp’s user interface has not been altered very often, and the majority of upgrades have been focused on creating room for new features. On the other hand, recent modifications, like as the switch to a bottom navigation bar that can be swiped, seem to place a greater emphasis on aesthetics than usefulness, and this may not be a completely negative thing. A little more than a year had passed since Meta had begun testing a bottom tab bar, and it wasn’t until last week that the company finally gave users of stable channels a taste of the new look.
The one and only irritation stemming from the makeover is eliminated
When the new bottom bar was released on the stable channel a week ago, we were dismayed to see that the new ubiquitous search bar was buried by the green top bar of the app, which included icons on the right and the white WhatsApp logo on the left. However, I observed that the top bar went white today on beta version 2.24.6.77, which is not the most recent version. This made the search box more apparent to the user.
The top bar now displayed the WhatsApp logo in green on the left-hand side, but the camera shortcut and the three-dot overflow menu button remained oriented to the right, just as they had been in the past. Because of this modification, the top and bottom bars now seem to be coherent user interface components. This is because they share the same background color as the chat list backdrop, even when the mode is set to dark.
Manuel Vonau, the Google Editor for the Associated Press, also saw the same thing after doing a force-stop and restart on the most recent beta version of the application. This suggests that WhatsApp is implementing this modification on a widespread scale, at least to beta testers. Additionally, Manuel observed that prior beta features, such as icons in the overflow menu, are now consistent with the current version. Since the new design of the bottom bar is currently available to the public, I would like to believe that you will soon be able to see the new design of the top bar in the stable channel, which will complete off the transition.
