Google Calendar.. A useful tool for keeping track of upcoming occasions, appointments, milestones, assignments, and more is Google Calendar. The Android app’s user interface, however, is somewhat lacking. We discovered a fast and simple method back in December for alternating between Tasks and Events after choosing one from the FAB. But at the time, it needed a few flags to function. This is about to change, however, as Google is rolling out this new event/task-switching page server-side to all Calendar users.
The information was disclosed on AssembleDebug’s Telegram channel, where the well-known leaker of Google apps, added that it is a feature of Google Calendar version 2024.09.1. Nonetheless, a few members of the AP team have discovered this precise modification in version 2024.07.0, suggesting that this isn’t dependent on a particular Google Calendar version.
As one would think, the procedure is really straightforward. The first step is to press the FAB in the lower right corner of the screen and choose between Event and Task. This opens a details page where you may edit the event or task’s name, date, and other data. You’ll see a few chips—four, to be exact—just below the title at the top of this page, which will make it simple for you to flip between different activities. It’s important to keep in mind that choosing an Out of Office or Working location from the app’s FAB does not direct you to this information page.
It doesn’t seem like Google has removed the cluttered FAB from the Calendar app yet, despite our hopes that it would ultimately happen. But with these additional chips on the details page, the floating action buttons are no longer necessary, particularly as they stand right now—the primary FAB now houses a few more FABs. The Calendar app should ideally just need a single FAB to add a new item, with the option to change it to an event or task and to specify an out-of-office time or location on the follow-up details page.
