Apple TV+ this month
There are enough movies and series available on Apple TV+ to keep you occupied for a considerable amount of time, including films that have won Academy Awards, such as CODA. In addition, it is our responsibility to remain current with the most recent and cutting-edge developments on the platform, which is why we have compiled this rotating monthly summary.
Our best choices for the month of May
This is the last month of spring, and there are a lot of new releases scheduled for May 2024. Without further ado, here is everything you can anticipate in this month before spring officially ends.
Dark Matter (2024)
Dark Matter is an eight-episode series that will be developed by Blake Crouch, who is also the author of the book written in 2016 that serves as the basis for the program. Apple TV+ is receiving another interesting addition to its strong selection of science fiction shows. The plot follows Chicago scientist Jason Dessen as he makes his way through a never-ending vignette of different universes. Joel Edgerton plays the role of Dessen in the film. All of them are various versions of his own life, and if he is unable to break the spell, the real Jason could be gone for good. The launch of the first two episodes takes place on May 8, and from that point until June 19, a new episode will be released every Wednesday.
Hollywood Con Queen (2024)
The documentary series Hollywood Con Queen is a new three-part series that covers one of the most significant fraud cases in the entertainment industry. The film is based on the careful investigation that journalist Scott Johnson conducted for The Hollywood Reporter. Under the premise of “the opportunity of a lifetime,” an alias would invite young artists to fly to Indonesia by pretending to be a prominent Hollywood producer. This would be done under the guise of “the opportunity of a lifetime.” However, after the victims’ money accounts were depleted, this dazzling “opportunity” just disappeared without a trace. Chris Smith, a director who has won an Emmy award and is arguably best known for a little program called Tiger King, is the one who is producing the documentary series, which is an adaptation of Johnson’s nonfiction book Hollywood Con Queen: The Hunt for an Evil Genius. This series will make its debut on May 8th.

Franklin (2024)
In the film Franklin, Michael Douglas plays the role of the eponymous inventor, who is a significant character in the annals of human history and a controversial one in contemporary scientific circles. Over the course of the limited series, which takes place in December of 1776, Franklin travels to France in an effort to rally support for the newly founded colonies in the United States. In addition to these individuals, the cast also includes Ludivine Sagnier, Marc Duret, and Noah Jupe.

Sugar (2024)
Sugar, which is a modern twist on the private detective narrative, stars Colin Farrell (The Penguin) as John Sugar, a man who is entrusted with discovering the granddaughter of a well-known Hollywood producer. Sugar has been described as a “genre-bending contemporary take on the private detective story.” Co-starring roles are played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Amy Ryan, and Dennis Boutsikaris.
The Big Door Prize (2023)
A second season of episodes of this episodic adaptation of the book of the same name written by M.O. Walsh, The Big Door Prize, will be available on Apple TV+. With the appearance of a strange gadget that has the ability to determine the “Life Potential” of those who interact with it, the lives of a great number of people are irrevocably altered. Christopher O’Dowd, Gabrielle Dennis, and Patrick Kerr are the actors that star in the program.
Preparing for the future of Apple TV+
During the summer of 2024, Apple TV+ already has a lot of content planned. There will be a new legal thriller series called Presumed Innocent being released in June, and we may look forward to it. Rusty Sabich, a top deputy prosecutor in Chicago, is played by Jake Gyllenhaal, who can be seen in the film Road House. In addition, Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, and Peter Sarsgaard are listed as members of the cast. Apple TV+ has also acquired the rights to the independent drama Fancy Dance, which stars Lily Gladstone and will be made available to watch on June 28.
