Summary
At the time of the introduction of Disney+ in 2019, it was widely acknowledged that the most popular features were the original series produced by Marvel and Star Wars. After almost five years, the production of series based on such properties has slowed down to the point that it is almost impossible to watch them. As we approach the Star Wars Day celebrations this year, it is important to note that there are really two new performances on the horizon. However, we are unable to promise that anything else associated with Star Wars will be added to Disney+ in the year 2024.
popular Star Wars programs and movies
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire is an animated anthology series that will make its debut on Disney+ on May 4. The series will follow up on various plot lines that were introduced in Ahsoka and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Following that, on June 4, Star Wars: The Acolyte will be released, although we do not yet have a great deal of information on that series. It was initially planned that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew would also be released in 2024; however, given that there has been no indication of the series to this point, it is possible that it may be delayed until 2025.
In the interim, we have updated our list of the finest Star Wars programs that are available on Disney+. This will allow you to review each of the key series in a more concise manner. Should you find that items on Disney+ get really sluggish, you could want to think about viewing them all once again.
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire 2024
You have entered the dark side. The next animated anthology that will be available on Disney+, titled Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, is a conceptual continuation of the 2022 film, Tales of the Jedi. Morgan Elsbeth, played by Diana Lee Inosanto, and Barriss Offee, a former Jedi, played by Meredith Salenger, are the focus of attention this time around. Both of these ladies have seen a severe decline in their lives.
During the course of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Barriss came to the conclusion that the Jedi were evil. However, she is about to experience true evil for the first time when she is recruited by the Inquisitors, who are responsible for hunting down Jedi. While everything is going on, Morgan’s tale is developing toward the conclusion of the prequel trilogy. She is compelled to turn to the Empire in order to exact revenge on herself and the other Nightsisters.
Ahsoka (2023)
Ahsoka is not only the spiritual sequel to Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, but it is also a test drive for Dave Filoni, the creator of the series and the director of the series, before he directs his own Star Wars movie within the next few years. She made a cameo appearance during the second season of The Mandalorian, and Rosario Dawson is reprising her role as Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi that she played. since for Ahsoka, it seems that she has a lot on her plate, since there is a possibility that Grand Admiral Thrawn, played by Lars Mikkelsen, may return, and there is also Baylan Skoll, played by Ray Stevenson, a fallen Jedi whose combat talents are much different from her own.
Ahsoka’s old apprentice, Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), joins her in her mission to rescue their long-lost buddy, Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi). This is not the only thing on Ahsoka’s plan; she also has the goal of preventing Thrawn from making a resurgence. To a certain extent, they will be able to locate Ezra after they have caught up with Thrawn. But is it possible that a joyful reunion will take place?
Star Wars: Visions (2021)
A fresh take on the iconic science fiction story that takes place in a galaxy far, far away was brought to life by Lucasfilm in the form of an anime anthology series. This series is comprised of nine short films that were developed by Japanese animation companies and were inspired by the Star Wars franchise. In addition to being set in various locations across the Star Wars chronology and, in some instances, even beyond it, the films provide some interesting new storylines that are voiced by an all-star ensemble of performers. They also filter the Star Wars saga through a novel lens.
The narratives The Duel, which was inspired by Akira Kurosawa, and The Ninth Jedi, which revealed a startling story that took place after the events of Rise of Skywalker, are two of the highlights of Star Wars: Visions. Other fantastic episodes are also included. A second volume has recently been released on the streaming service, and it contains brand new stories from animation firms that are highly renowned, such as Aardman, PunkRobot, and Cartoon Saloon.
Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi (2022)
Star Wars: Rebels (2014)
Rebels had a favorable critical review that was well-deserved for maintaining the popularity of the series in the domain of animation, despite the fact that it did not quite measure up to the highs that were achieved by The Clone Wars. There is little question that Star Wars Rebels is the inevitable successor to The Clone Wars. However, this time around, the principal cast of characters is entirely different.
As the story starts, fourteen years have passed since the tragic repercussions of Emperor Palpatine’s Order 66, and Jedi are now in danger and are being aggressively sought down. Additionally, despite the fact that the protagonists are unique for the most part, it provides longstanding fans with satisfying resolutions to plot arcs that were initiated in the series that came before it, as well as exciting visits by characters from the original trilogy. Star Wars Rebels is now available to watch in its entirety, including all four seasons.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)
Unfortunately, the Clone Wars feature picture, which also functions as the pilot for the series, is not very excellent. That film was followed by an animated series that is of exceptionally high quality. In spite of the fact that The Clone Wars began as a conventional action-adventure animation, it rapidly evolved into something that was far more complicated: A comprehensive and nuanced analysis of the unspeakable atrocities that occur during combat in the Star Wars universe. Throughout the course of seven seasons, The Clone Wars not only extended but also enriched the Star Wars franchise in a variety of fascinating and surprising ways. Better than that? Additionally, the tale continues in Star Wars Rebels, which is a fantastic follow-up to The Clone Wars. The conclusion is not truly the conclusion.
The Bad Batch (2021)
This series is the continuation of the Star Wars story, which takes place after the events of Episode III—RRevenge of the Sith—and the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but before the events of Episode IV—AA New Hope, which is the first episode in the franchise.
The story follows the members of Clone Force 99, a special set of clone troopers who were given specific powers as a result of genetic anomalies that occurred during the cloning process. These mutations earned them the moniker “The Bad Batch.” The characters were first shown in The Clone Wars, and they were well received by fans of the Star Wars franchise. The Bad Batch investigates what happened to them after the battle was over, and Order 66 ordered many of their fellow clones to murder the Jedi that they had fought with before the war’s conclusion.
