The Intel Core i9-14900KS is a new CPU as fastest CPU in the world that Intel has unveiled and it is expected to be among the finest. The new CPU, which is a follow-up to the Core i9-14900K, achieves a staggering 6.2GHz out of the box, pushing the frequency above what any other processor can currently offer. We now know its specifications, pricing, and release date, and Intel predicts that it will provide a significant improvement over its predecessor.
With 24 cores (eight P-cores and sixteen E-cores) and 32 threads, 36MB of Intel Smart Cache, with a 150 watt TDP, the recently launched Core i9-14900KS is powerful. It can support up to 192GB of DDR5-5600 or DD4-3200 MT/s of RAM, and it supports both DDR4 and DDR5 RAM, much like the other CPUs in the Raptor Lake update family. It features 20 PCIe lanes, 16 of which are PCIe 5.0 and the remaining 16 are PCIe 4.0. It can be connected with either a Z690 or a Z790 motherboard.
According to Intel, the new processor might be up to 15% quicker than the Core i9-13900KS, although that is just for gen-on-gen upgrades. Additionally, the business released additional gaming benchmarks in which AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X3D was pitted against the CPU. Performance was equivalent in nearly half of the games, but in games like Metro Exodus and Total War: Warhammer III, Intel outperforms with speeds of up to 26% and 24% quicker, respectively. Subtle improvements may be seen when comparing the Core i9-14900KS to the prior generation processor. Although most games only show three to six percent increases with the latest CPU, the Core i9-14900KS was 15% quicker in Metro Exodus and 9% faster in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Additionally, Intel guarantees that this chip will have expanded Application Optimization (APO) compatibility. This is a patented technology of Intel that enhances performance in select games by allowing dynamic CPU customization. With APO, the CPU is touted to perform up to 11% better in Metro Exodus, while the list of supported games has grown to 14, meaning that Intel added 12 more titles.
Commencing on March 14, 2024, the Intel Core i9-14900KS will be obtainable in two variants: DIY and prebuilt. Certain prebuilt suppliers, like Maingear, include specially delidded versions of the CPU in their builds. This means that liquid metal and a higher-quality thermal paste will be used in lieu of the inbuilt heat spreader and thermal paste for improved overclocking potential. The Core i9-14900KS is expected to retail for $700 as a standalone CPU, $50 more than the Core i9-14900K.
