Google Fi.. MVNO For some of its unlimited options, Google Fi is increasing the cost. New Google Fi support literature indicates that the cost of Simply Unlimited group subscriptions for three or more users is increasing. Plans with one or two members remain the same in terms of pricing and functionality, therefore nothing has changed.
Did Google Fi increase prices?
Pricing increases are being made, according to Fi’s support website, “In order to continue delivering high quality product offerings and features for our subscribers.” The revised prices you see below will apply to anybody purchasing a new group Simply Unlimited plan as of right now. Prices for current group plans will increase with the next billing cycle after April 4.
Number of lines | Previous price | New price |
1 | $50/month | $50/month |
2 | $80/month | $80/month |
3 | $80/month | $90/month |
4 | $80/month | $100/month |
5 | $100/month | $125/month |
6 | $120/month | $150/month |
Previously, the cost of plans with two, three, or four people was the same—$80. Plans with three or more people are becoming more costly per line under the recently disclosed price. It’s interesting to note that the five-, six-, and four-member Simply Unlimited plans are all becoming $5 more costly per line, if you can use that phrase with charity. Simply Unlimited now charges $50 for a single subscriber, $40 for a plan with two lines, and $30 for a plan with three lines. Groups larger than that will pay $25 for each line.
What else is changing with Google Fi?
Nothing at this time.
Google reports that while the cost of group Simply Unlimited subscriptions is increasing, the quality of service remains same. Service for “select smartwatches” is still free of charge, and there is limited high-speed hotspot tethering in addition to 35 gigabytes of full-speed internet access available in the US, Canada, and Mexico with Simply Unlimited.
The price of the Unlimited Plus plans does not seem to be altering in tandem with the new Simply Unlimited pricing structure. These plans feature 50 GB of full-speed 5G, no extra tethering limitations, free international calling, and free out-of-country data access. Similarly, Fi’s less costly Flexible option is also not changing at this time.
