Google Pixel 8.. One of the greatest smartphones available right now is the Google Pixel 8, and according to tkgap, the Pixel 8 Pro will be the greatest model available in 2023. The Google flagship device, the Pixel 8 series, continues to get praise as it was named the Best Smartphone (2023) at the GSMA’s annual Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO).
Rick Osterloh, SVP of Devices & Services at Google, shared the happy news on Twitter/X along with a photo of the Pixel 8 team holding the prize. Each year, these awards are given out, usually during the Mobile World Congress. This year’s presentation offers us a close-up view of some of the newest technology.

According to 9to5Google, this is Google’s first victory in the Best Smartphone category, despite the fact that the firm previously won the Disruptive Device Innovation award for the Night Sight feature of the Pixel 3. The Best Smartphone award is featured under the Device category on the official MWC website, which also has a dedicated section featuring all the finalists. The complete list of GLOMO award nominees for this year is as follows:
- Apple iPhone 15 Pro series
- Google Pixel 8 series
- OnePlus Open/OPPO Find N3
- Samsung Galaxy S23 series
- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5
That is an amazing collection of phones for the year, and it’s noteworthy to note that the OnePlus Open placed second in our 2023 smartphone awards. Over the last two years, Apple flagship devices have dominated the GLOMOs; the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max won the category in 2023 and 2022, respectively. In February 2020, the OnePlus 7T Pro won the title, but in 2021, the Galaxy S21 Ultra emerged victorious.
Google might find some comfort in the fact that the Pixel collection seems to be performing better than ever, despite the unfavorable headlines surrounding Gemini’s picture production powers. A recent report from Nikkei Asia claims that Google delivered 10 million Pixel smartphones in 2023.
It seems like Google has set a similar target for 2024, with the Pixel 8 series slated to shoulder the majority of the workload. Of course, there are more Pixel smartphones coming out this year. The Pixel 8a is scheduled to release somewhere in the middle of the year, while the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are probably going to make their appearance by autumn of 2024.
