How to find archived emails in Gmail

Finding archived Gmails on the web
If you use a web browser to access Gmail, retrieving any emails you may have stored is a simple task. To begin with, any archived emails will appear in the search results if you utilize the bar at the top of the page. As an alternative, you may choose All mail to see all of your mail, including archived items.
- Step 1: Visit the Gmail website and sign in.
- Step 2: On the left side of the screen, select More.
- Step 3: Select the All mail option.
- Step 4: On the right side of the screen, you may now browse your email; it will include all emails in your account, including archived content.
Finding archived Gmails on an Android phone
One of the greatest Android phones may also be used to view archived information with ease if you use Gmail. Moving an archived Gmail to the inbox on Android
Using the Gmail mobile applications for iOS and Android, you may also decide against keeping archived emails while you’re on the go. To restore the archived email to your inbox in Google’s official Gmail client for Android, do the following actions:
- Step 1: Open the Gmail app on your device.
- Step 2: Locate the email you wish to relocate and select it.
- Step 3: Select the More button in the upper-right corner of your screen (shown as three vertical dots), not the message.

Archiving Gmails on iPhones, MacBooks, and other iOS devices
The procedure varies somewhat for iOS devices. This is how you do it:

- Step 2: Select the sender’s profile icon on the left of the screen.
- Step 3: Select the More icon (three dots).
- Step 4: Select whether you want to Move to inbox or Move to > Primary.
Archiving an email vs. muting an email
It’s possible that you’ve heard of the simultaneous discussion of email muting and archiving. To maintain organization, these services will delete messages from your inbox; however, emails that have been archived will reappear in your inbox if a reply is received. However, communications that are muted will never again appear in your inbox. To silence an email, use these instructions on a mobile device or the web:
- Step 1: Access your Gmail account.
- Step 2: Open the email you wish to mute.
- Step 3: Select the More button (shown as three vertical dots). For the web, it is important that you select the More button that is located toward the top of your screen, just under the search box.
- Step 4: Select the Mute option.
These instructions work with both iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. The More icon on iOS devices has three horizontal dots rather than three vertical dots, which is the sole slight variation.
You may unmute an email discussion online by following the instructions above; however, you must choose the Unmute option in step 4. If you want the email to go back to your inbox, you’ll still need to choose Move to inbox. If you don’t transfer an email manually, it will stay in All Mail once you unmute it. Muting an email doesn’t move it to another folder in Gmail.
The Gmail client for Android allows you to unmute emails as well, but there isn’t an unmute button there. Instead, you must choose the More button and then Move to Inbox. By doing this, the message is successfully unmuted and returned to the inbox.
In the Gmail search box, all of your muted chats are grouped together for easy access. Just look for them under the label “is:mute.”
