Movies on Netflix
Have no worry, since this list is specifically designed for you. This weekend, Digital Trends has compiled a list of three movies that are now available to watch on Netflix and are among the most undervalued films available. These films are worth your time and attention. The first one is a well-written true-life story involving skiing, poker, and crime (yes, this is something that really happened), the second one is a science fiction romance from the 1980s, and the third one is a contemporary remake of an old Clint Eastwood film.
The Beguiled (2017)
There are several reasons why Sofia Coppola’s resume is so impressive, and one of those reasons is because she is quite consistent with the ideas that she explores and the way that she approaches subject matter. All of the films Lost in Translation, Nowhere, and Priscilla, which was released the previous year, provide glimpses into the thoughts and feelings of young women and girls who are on the cusp of a significant turning point in their lives. It would seem that The Beguiled is a completely different film; after all, a remake of a Clint Eastwood film from the 1970s does not exactly appear to be something that would fall within Coppola’s range of interests. On the other hand, this is precisely what makes her rendition so arresting to behold and, yes, so captivating to take in.
Colin Farrell plays the role of John McBurney, a wounded Union soldier who seeks safety from the American Civil War at a tiny, all-girls school in Virginia that is practically abandoned. McBurney is portrayed by Farrell. Edwina (Kirsten Dunst) and Alicia (Elle Fanning) are the ones who are crushing on him, while Miss Farnsworth (Nicole Kidman) is the one who is taking care of him. Not only is John not an angel, but his female saviors, who each have their own secrets to conceal, will soon be tempted to seduce him. In spite of the fact that The Beguiled is not your typical thriller, if you allow yourself to be patient, you will be rewarded with a film that is rich in atmosphere and intrigue.
Molly’s Game (2017)
Even though it appears that the same extremely intelligent and quick-witted person who wrote it, Aaron Sorkin, is the only one who can write movie dialogue,. One of the most typical criticisms leveled at Sorkin is that all of his characters have the same tone of voice. However, when the wordplay is this amazing, you don’t really care about it. This is the case with Molly’s Game, which incorporates Sorkin’s language into a humdinger of a real-life narrative that is delivered with just minimal exaggerations.
Because of an accident, Molly Bloom’s career as a skier competing at the Olympic level has come to an end. As a result, she has turned to a new sort of hustle, which is poker. Not just ordinary poker, but card games that are ambiguously unlawful and include dubious characters, such as bankers, Hollywood stars, and members of the mafia. Does it come as a surprise to learn that Molly will ultimately find herself in a situation that is far beyond her capabilities? It is not any of the story twists that make Molly’s Game so enjoyable; rather, it is the way in which talented and charming performers like Jessica Chastain (who plays Molly), Kevin Costner (who plays her father), and Idris Elba (who plays her lawyer) deliver Sorkin’s lines as if they were tennis volleys. To be sure, this is not the appropriate metaphor for athletics, but you get the impression.
Starman (1984)
Romance and science fiction are two genres that seldom intersect with one another, but when they do, the resulting work is often something that is quite remarkable. This is the case with the film Starman, which was directed by John Carpenter and released in 1984. Jeff Bridges played the title character, a space freak, and Karen Allen played the lady who eventually falls in love with him. Jenny, played by Allen, discovers a naked guy in her remote cabin who looks and sounds precisely like her late husband, Scott, played by Bridges. However, it is not love at first sight for Jenny for this reason. This resurrected Scott is really an extraterrestrial being who accidentally arrived on Earth. Jenny’s assistance is required in order for him to get to a rendezvous location where his spacecraft will come and fetch him. In the course of the journey, Jenny starts to develop affections for this extraterrestrial counterpart of her departed husband, despite the fact that government agents are attempting to catch both of them for reasons that are predictable to be evil.
What are the top childrens films on Netflix available now?
The narrative of Starman is comparable to that of E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, although the two films couldn’t be more different from one another. Unlike any other film you’ve seen, Starman is a science fiction film that tells its narrative as a romance between two people who are on the run. Both the ethereal and transcendent soundtrack, which was created by the filmmaker himself, and Bridges’ outstanding performance, which culminated in his nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor, are responsible for this. Stream it and be impressed.
