All-purpose laptops should be able to work and play as hard as you do, and this MSI Prestive 16 AI Evo did not fall short of your expectations in any regard.
Since I work in publishing, I am always connected to the internet. In addition, outside of work hours, I often use the internet for the purpose of enjoyment. My primary uses for a laptop include research, the usage of software and testing of software, writing and editing, and all the other things that you could do in the workplace mixed with the activities of social networking, shopping, and streaming that normally take place after the workday is over.
What is considered to be a normal workload for laptops?
This laptop, on the other hand, has more than enough power to handle all I threw at it, and it also has a reasonable battery life to boot. First things first, let’s have a look at the form aspect of this machine before we get into the specifics of the situation.
One Laptop That Is Surprisingly Light
To tell you the truth, I anticipated that this laptop with a screen size of 16 inches would be a beast, and it is, but not in the manner that you would suppose. The whole of the beastliness is contained inside the capabilities of the machine, even if it does not truly add to the weight of the machine. Compared to what I anticipated, this laptop weighs a lot less. With a weight of just more than three pounds, I have picked it up on many occasions and come dangerously close to throwing it across the room. And despite the fact that it has a thin profile, it almost seems as if it should weigh more than it really does.
This may be due to the fact that the laptop is constructed on a magnesium-aluminum chassis, which gives the impression of being a more robust chassis and provides protection, but is really lighter than it seems. I like slinging my laptop into a backpack and taking it with me wherever I go, whether it be to the park, a coffee shop, or even just out on the back deck on a lovely day. This is a pleasant surprise for me since I carry my laptop with me wherever I go.
I was taken aback by the Prestige 16 AI Evo’s stunning display, in addition to the fact that it is lighter than it seems to be. When it comes to space, a 16-inch screen is a great option. I generally use a MacBook Air with a screen size of 13 inches, and it is certainly beneficial to have a few more inches on the screen. But it wasn’t simply the additional room that I cherished about it. It is all that you would anticipate from an OLED screen, including the image, the colors, the smoothness, and the brilliant brightness.
It is a laptop that functions and plays just like mine
That is a nice appearance. However, how does it function? Certainly, it is capable of handling more than I am able to bear. On the other hand, it functions very well for the tasks that I do. To begin, it offers a wide variety of excellent connection alternatives. It is equipped with two Thunderbolt 4 connections, as well as USB-A and USB-C ports, an SD Card Reader (which I found to be quite handy when importing photographs from my camera), and HDMI. The addition of an Ethernet connector, an audio jack, and a physical lock slot made it possible for me to establish connections.
The contents of the machine are of greater significance. Due to the fact that the model I tried is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra CPU, there is no software that I did not find to be compatible with it. Additionally, it is equipped with a neural processing unit that can handle any artificial intelligence that you can throw at it. And despite the fact that it is capable of Wi-Fi 7 (I am presently using Wi-Fi at 5.8 GBPS), none of the files that I downloaded even had any glitches. I was able to stream a movie from YouTube while simultaneously downloading a file from my email account and running two open browsers, each of which had many tabs, without any discernible difference in the rates of the two activities.
But there is a drawback to all of that power, and in this particular instance, it is the fan. Quite a loud one. When the fan started up for the first time, I was fortunate enough to not have the laptop sitting on my lap because I would have thrown it across the room if I had been sitting there. It is fair to say that I have not used a laptop that has a fan in quite some time, and as a result, I had forgotten about that particular function that is included on certain computers. However, I continue to believe that this fan is noisier than the typical cooling system found in a laptop.
Putting away the fact that it is a fan, the Prestige 16 AI Evo is also available for your “not work” activities. I was able to stream movies and play games without experiencing any apparent latency or glitches in either activity. It was possible for me to use the device I was using for work and even for a short period of time in the evening before it required a charge since the battery on the device I was using lasted for around ten hours without having to be charged.
Is It Worth It to Purchase the MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo?
What really matters is whether or not it is worth it. When it comes to machines, the Prestige 16 AI Evo is not the most costly option available. In point of fact, it begins at about $1500, which makes it a device that is really reasonable. For that price, you get a laptop that is suitable for nearly all regular computer users (and even some users who are heavy into video, graphics, or training AI models), that has a fantastic OLED display, and that can handle all of your casual gaming needs. It is qualified as almost ultra-portable, with a weight that is just slightly above three pounds, which is the threshold that separates it from the ultra-portable category.
In such case, yes. In my opinion, it is well worth the effort. This machine is a good option to go with if you are searching for a laptop that functions in the same manner that you do and has the capacity to fulfill any new needs that may arise in the future, such as artificial intelligence in everything.
