Nevertheless, along his voyage, Harry had to confront each of them at least once, and they were all scary in their own unique ways. Although there are more than seven villains in the Harry Potter universe, we have limited our list to the most evil—at least in our opinion.
1. Lord Voldemort
You were aware of this coming, correct? Not only was Voldemort the catalyst for the wizarding war, but he also had a strong belief in the concept of pure blood, making him the epitome of evil. Furthermore, he had little regard for human life, and in the end, it was his ignorance of compassion and love that brought him to an end.
After all, Voldemort was just a man, and like all men, he was prone to frailty and failure. Despite his wizarding prowess, what killed him in the end were the things he never bothered to learn.
2. Bellatrix Lestrange
Bellatrix was Voldemort’s most loyal right hand and the worst worker he had. She was bad because she supported what her master was doing, but she was also selfish. The woman was a real sadist who loved hurting her friends and would do it whenever she could.
She also helped Neville’s parents torture him, and she killed Sirius Black, which will make her famous forever. So, it makes sense that Molly Weasley was the one who beat her in the end. It was very beautiful for a mother who knows a lot about love to beat someone who only loved hurting other people.
3. Dolores Umbridge
Many people hate Dolores Umbridge more than Voldemort himself. She is horrible in every way. She slowly takes over Hogwarts and spends a whole year rejecting Lord Voldemort’s return on behalf of the Minister of Magic. She is very strict about following the rules and believes in both physical punishment and manipulation.
Umbridge is only good because she gets what she deserves in the end. Even though she was very strict about the rules, the crazy world around her, especially a group of angry centaurs, won out.
4. Peter Pettigrew
Peter Pettigrew was a snide spy who liked power. He played a big role in both Harry’s (short) death and Voldemort’s comeback, and he did it all out of fear. He lied to his best friends and then helped bring back the ultimate evil because he didn’t know what else to do.
He never got the love or respect he seemed to want so badly, mostly because he never earned it. He died because he wanted to be kind. This is the only good thing he does in the books, and it’s also what kills him.
5. Gellert Grindelwald
Albus Dumbledore’s best friend would probably be higher on this list if he had more depth. At this point, we know that Grindelwald was the strongest dark wizard until Voldemort came along. His goal was to bring the wizards out of hiding so they could rule over the muggles. At first, Dumbledore agreed with that plan, but in the end, he changed his mind. It was Dumbledore who beat Grindelwald and shut him up, so Voldemort would never see him again when he came looking for the Elder Wand.
6. Barty Crouch Jr
There has never been a more devoted Voldemort fan than Barty Crouch Jr. He isn’t given much of a personality, and he only does bad things. He plays a big role in Voldemort’s eventual return, helps torture Neville’s parents, and kidnaps Mad-Eye Moody and locks him up in a chest for a year so he can take on his name.
While Barty Crouch Jr. is truly awful, he was only following a higher power with all his heart. He really believed in what Voldemort wanted to do and was ready to do anything to help him bring it about.
7. The Dursleys
The Dursleys were not nice to Harry and are the only family on this list that is not magical. They never even came close to treating him like a son, and when compared to their own child, the way they treated him was almost cruel. They also didn’t want him to know that he was special, which is why everything that happened in the first book seemed so strange to him.
Even so, they didn’t mean to hurt Harry, even though they did a lot of damage to his mind. Even though the Dursleys were bad, they didn’t start a war between wizards or anything.
