Summary
top science fiction films… Even though science fiction films aren’t often given a lot of attention on Netflix, there has been a discernible rise in the number of films in that category this month. It is not possible for us to argue that Battleship or the 2012 remake of Total Recall are among the finest science fiction films available on Netflix, but we do appreciate the effort that has been made to provide viewers with other alternatives.

In addition, this month sees the end of Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon—Part Two: The Scargiver, which is one of the most risky wagers that Netflix has ever made. Only for a brief period of time did Rebel Moon—Part One hold the position of being the most popular movie on Netflix. It seems unlikely that Netflix will have much of an incentive to invest money in original science fiction if Part Two is unable to do better than that.
The Matrix and Starman, both of which are considered to be masterpieces in the science fiction genre for a variety of reasons, are the other noteworthy additions that have been made this month. Continue reading for further information on those films, as well as the other science fiction films that are now available on Netflix.
Spaceman (2024)
It is a well-known statement from the promotional material for the film Alien that “in space, no one can hear you scream.” Due to the fact that Spaceman is not a horror movie, there is not a great deal of tension over the survival of astronaut Jakub Procházka, played by Adam Sandler. Due to the fact that Jakub is alone in the depths of space, no one is able to hear or see how much he is being eaten by his feelings of loneliness, his inner anguish, and the fact that his marriage to Lenka Procházka (Carey Mulligan) is now crumbling. One individual, Hanuš, played by Paul Dano, is an extraterrestrial spider who Jakub comes across throughout his quest.
Hanuš is able to see and comprehend every aspect of Jakub’s mental state, often to the disadvantage of Jakub himself. It is not something that Jakub wants to relive sad memories of; nonetheless, he is so needy for any form of company that the possibility of Hanuš leaving him behind is incomprehensibly upsetting to him.
Rebel Moon, Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
The space opera Rebel Moon—Part One: A Child of Fire, written by Zack Snyder, is a work that lovers of Star Wars and other science fiction epics need to be acquainted with. In this reality, Motherworld and her intergalactic army, the Imperium, are the dominant powers. The story takes place in this universe. Kora, played by Sofia Boutella, was a former member of the Imperium who wanted to make up for her past actions by beginning a new life on a moon known as Veldt, which was located beyond the reach of Motherworld.
It is impossible for Kora to continue running after the Imperium has finally arrived on Veldt. In order to protect the homeworld that she has adopted, Kora enlists the assistance of a number of individuals, including Titus (Djimon Hounsou), a former commander of the Imperium, Kai (Charlie Hunnam), Gunnar (Michiel Huisman), Tarak (Staz Nair), Nemesis (Doona Bae), and others. On the other hand, it is possible that even this diverse group of fighters will not be sufficient to survive a complete attack by the Imperium.
Warriors of Future (2022)
During the course of this Chinese blockbuster, a meteor crashes onto the planet. There is a destructive extraterrestrial lifeform that has spawned with the intention of posing a danger to humans. Following the almost total destruction of elite troops who were attempting to preserve their city, one soldier who managed to survive, Tai Loo (Louis Koo), comes to the realization that there is a more extensive plot related to the invasion.
Stowaway (2021)
Words like “sacrifice” and “preservation” are given a new meaning in the science fiction film Stowaway, which investigates the extent to which people are ready to go in order to protect one another. The three planetary researchers uncover an inadvertent fourth passenger called Michael (Shamier Anderson), who is stranded onboard the spaceship. They are following the crew of a spacecraft that is headed to Mars, which is portrayed by Anna Kendrick, Toni Collette, and Daniel Dae Kim. After being literally entangled in a carbon dioxide filter, the disoriented launch engineer accidentally ruins the equipment, depriving everyone on board of the oxygen that they so desperately need. As the clock begins to tick on how much oxygen is left to breathe, the crew is forced to face certain decisions that are both dangerous and heartbreaking in order to arrive on Mars in a safe manner. There is nothing quite like the absence of Earth to elevate the stakes in any scenario when life or death is at issue, and Stowaway manages to tackle this well-known science fiction trope with an affecting plot.

The Wandering Earth (2019)
There is a possibility that The Wandering Earth is the most successful movie that you have never heard of, yet it was a major smash in China. In the future, when the sun is expanding, mankind will be forced to physically relocate the Earth to another solar system. This causes the events of the movie to take place. It is necessary for Captain Wang Lei, played by Li Guangjie, to abandon his son, Liu Qi, played by Qu Chuxiao, since his assignment in space requires him to return home after a period of many years. On the other hand, in order to guarantee that the Earth will make it through its dangerous trip, both the father and the son will have significant responsibilities to perform.
Mirage (2018)
When you are watching Mirage, you should not be frightened to read the subtitles. There is a plot in this Spanish science fiction movie that is universally applicable, regardless of the language that is utilized. Vera Roy, played by Adriana Ugarte, is a lady who, by accident, finds a method to interact with a young guy called Nico Lasarte, played by Joel Illescas, who is 25 years in the past. After Vera has assisted Nico in preventing his own accidental death, she comes to the realization that her own universe and history have undergone significant changes. The existence of Vera’s daughter has been dissolved, and her husband, David (Álvaro Morte), has entered into a marriage with another individual. Consequently, Vera conducts a frantic quest for a means by which she might reclaim what she has lost.
Beyond Skyline (2017)
The long-awaited sequel to Skyline, which was released in 2010, is noteworthy for being one of the few situations in which the sequel is far better than the first. This B-movie, which is unabashedly pulpy and depicts an invasion of aliens, portrays what happens when humans are left to defend themselves against a superior race of artificial intelligence. When the aliens attack, Frank Grillo plays the role of a police officer who is in conflict with his son. After being abruptly forced to flee for their lives, the father-and-son team moves at a rapid speed, first via underground tunnels to the radioactive wasteland of Los Angeles, then to an alien spacecraft, and lastly to a rebel human camp in Laos in order to prepare a final defense. This one is for you if you want massive action, ridiculous science fiction clichés, and good ol’ fashioned human against alien warfare. Beyond Skyline is utterly nuts, but if you appreciate those things, then you will enjoy it.
Spectral (2016)
Spectral is a game that you will really like if you are in the mood for some good old-fashioned alien battles. This early piece of original content produced by Netflix demonstrates how inventive the studio was able to be with a little budget despite the major action needs. As an alien force starts to wreak havoc on a city in Europe that has been devastated by war, the local engineers are compelled to collaborate with American Special Operations in order to effectively repel the invasion.
