The amount of British television series that Americans are enamored with has significantly increased, in part because of Netflix. Additionally, Netflix and other streaming services have begun to routinely export TV from a number of nations, including Britain. Netflix still offers one of the largest selections of British crime dramas, though, if you’re a fan of the genre.
British crime shows on Netflix in March
Here is a list of three fantastic British crime dramas that Netflix offers, some of which it financed directly and others which it just exported from the United Kingdom. These shows are wonderful if you’re just starting out at Netflix.
Bodyguard (2018)
Bodyguard was a huge hit on the internet when it debuted, and for good reason—despite having just one season. The story centers on a war veteran who is put on the home secretary’s security detail; some people who know her describe her as a sociopath.
This soldier has to face not just with his new boss’s prickliness and the genuine threats to her life, but also with the psychological and physical wounds he sustained during his combat service. Bodyguard is exciting whether or not you are familiar with the complexities of British politics, largely due to the outstanding acting of Richard Madden from Game of Thrones and impeccably accurate planning.
Peaky Blinders (2013-2022)
Peaky Blinders is a fantastic, gripping work of historical fiction that may be the pinnacle of British crime television, driven by Cillian Murphy’s outstanding lead performance. The plot, which centers on Peaky Blinders, one of the largest criminal gangs of the time, is set in the early aftermath of World War I.
The episode begins with Tommy Shelby (Murphy) trying to convince the Shelby family to go into more respectable economic endeavors. It then chronicles the Shelby family’s tribulations throughout the years. The rest of the show’s narrative twists and turns, yet it never lets up and is only thirty-six episodes long over the course of six seasons.
Collateral (2018)
Already the title of a fantastic Michael Mann movie, this Collateral examines what happens when a delivery lad is killed in London. Carey Mulligan plays the lead investigator assigned to the investigation, but as she gets more information, she starts to understand how closely this murder’s origins are tied to the underbelly of crime in the city she has vowed to safeguard.
Although Mulligan does a great job in the role, Collateral’s script is what truly makes it shine. Collateral is the ideal vehicle to display her skills; she is one of the greatest performers working today.
