How to use Google Flights (airfare )to get the best deals
There are tools on Google Flights that can help you find the best deals on flights for the dates you want to travel.
Google Flights groups the results of your search by “Best flights,” which is a list of the best deals based on price, length, time of day, and other factors. You can use other tools to find the best food, though.
The way we rank the “Best Departing Flights”
These flights are ranked by which ones offer the best balance of price and ease. This is done by looking at things like the length of the trip, the number of stops, and the number of airport changes during layovers. If we don’t have price information for an airline’s nonstop routes, we may still include them, but they will always be at the bottom of the list.
Google Flights looks at deals from more than 300 travel partners, such as airlines, online travel companies, and aggregators, to show you these findings. Results might not show all of the deals that are out there.
Partner airlines don’t pay Google to be on the list of flights, and Google’s ties with these airlines don’t change the order of the list.
This is how we rank “Other departing flights”
The price of these tickets goes up as you scroll down. Below all the results with prices, itineraries that don’t have prices show up.
How we put ticket links in order
A few things are taken into account by Google Flights’ link-ranking system, and each is given a different amount of weight.
- How much the link costs.
- The price the partner on Google Flights gave.
- Whether the link is to a flight or an online travel agency. Google’s data shows that users like airline links the most, but the company wants to make sure that both airline and OTA options are in the top results.Type
- and quality of links, taking into account whether the links are weak or deep.- The user shouldn’t have to pick out the route again on the partner page.
- What kind of website the link on Google Flights goes to if it’s mobile-friendly.
Figure out why some prices are shown in green
Even though we rank flights and buying links based on a number of factors, we know that price is a big one for many users. We use green text to draw attention to the cheapest flights and booking choices, making it easier for you to find them.
These flight and ticket choices are the cheapest ones based on how much they cost compared to the cheapest one and how many options are available.
Plan your trips around certain times
There may be notes in the Tips area that tell you if you’re getting a good deal.
Prices aren’t going to go down before you book: This tip is shown by Google Flights when it is very likely that the price of the trip will not go down between when you look and when the flight leaves.
This guess comes from looking at how flight prices have changed over time, and there’s always a chance that prices won’t change the way we think they will.
You might see this note under “Book soon” on your phone.
There are less prices than usual: People see this tip when trip prices are much lower than what they thought they would be based on past prices for similar trips.
If you click on the tip, Google Flights will explain how they came to the conclusion that the price is lower than normal.
Prices are likely to go up: You might also see a tip that says “prices are likely to increase” by a certain amount in the next few days.
This means that Google Flights is very confident that prices will go up and can tell you about the amount.
This guess comes from looking at how flight prices have changed over time, and there’s always a chance that prices won’t change the way we think they will. this might show up under “Book now” on a phone.
Plan your flight times and locations
Dates: If you pick a different day of the week, you may see that ticket prices change. If you click on Dates, you can see which trip dates have the lowest prices.
Price graph: If you can be flexible with your trip plans, clicking on Price graph will let you see how fare prices change by week or month. You can also choose to keep an eye on trips and prices in this area.
Airports: The part on airports may say that prices are lower at some airports and let you find out what those prices are.
